The TEEM program offers students an immersive, real world work experience while being supported and mentored by a cybersecurity industry professional.
TEEM is an eight-week cybersecurity training program offered by CivilianCyber in partnership with The Commonwealth Cyber Initiative (CCI). Students will use the proprietary learning platform Your Career Counselor (YCC™) in tandem with the Workforce Innovation Network (WIN™) to receive high-quality online learning as well as complete exercises to advance critical thinking/soft skills and applied knowledge.
We are proud to offer 25 college students throughout the state of Virginia a spot in our upcoming program scheduled to kick off on March 20th, 2023. To qualify for this program, students should be in either their sophomore or junior year at an accredited Virginia college or university and possess a minimum GPA of 2.5.
Split into two phases, students can expect to spend three to five hours a week throughout this eight-week program. At the end of the eight weeks, each student/candidate will receive a certificate of completion. Here’s how the two phases break down.
In the first phase of the project, candidates will access a self-directed learning curriculum via the secure online application, Your Career Counselor (YCC). Candidates will then be paired with an industry professional to gain insights through short, highly structured one-on-one weekly mentoring sessions. During these sessions the candidates will review what was learned in that week’s module with their mentor. The result is a real-world, self-started professional engagement that expands professional experience as well as building soft skills and knowledge of the practical application of the subject matter.
In the second phase of the program, candidates will work either individually or collaboratively to identify an approach and develop a solution to a stated challenge currently being faced by the cybersecurity industry. Candidates will then submit solutions to the challenge via the Workforce Innovation Network (WIN), developed by CivilianCyber. Each submission will be judged by a panel of industry experts with the student developing the best, most workable solution earning recognition. This part of the program provides students with a unique opportunity to showcase skills and talents to potential future employers.
The first step to participating in this program is to complete a quick Cybersecurity Aptitude Assessment. This will provide a baseline of a student’s aptitude and attitude for a career in cybersecurity, as well as pairing each student with an appropriate mentor.
For consideration in the program registration and aptitude testing must be completed by March 17th, 2023.
Once signed in, you will enter the enrollment key: TEEM2023 to unlock the assessment.
